Saanich Community

The 'Saanich - the Early Years' began in the spring of 2005 with a community capacity grant from Success by Six. At a well attended meeting in May, we shared information with community members on local, regional and provincial initiatives around early childhood development; and our early childhood experiences in Saanich.

Interested community members from Saanich Recreation, Saanich Neighbourhood Place, School District 63, the Greater Victoria Public Library and child care providers have met to initiate the development of an early childhood plan for Saanich. We plan to continue to meet over the next year to continue the development of the plan, look for non-traditional partners and inform our community at large about early childhood development issues.

In the Spring of 2006 a strategic plan for Saanich - the Early Years was developed.
