Child Care and Early Learning Information Project

Read the Child Care Information Action report to learn about the child care situation in BC's Capital Region. It represents a colloborative initiative of over 25 participants to document three major issues constraining the delivery of child care to children and parents in our region: staff recruitment & retention, child care spaces, and funding. Thanks to contributors for their hard work on this!

In January 2008, we updated numbers on child care spaces since March 2007. View the brief to read about changes over the last 10 months.

Municipal Planning Updates  The City of Victoria Council reviewed the Child Friendly Community Policy on July 12, 2007, submitted by the Social Planning Advisory Committee (see page 20). It was moved that the Policy would be referred to staff for review and to develop an implementation strategy. Additionally, Council agreed to submit the resolution on child care to the September Union of BC Municipalities convention. Unfortunately, the deadline had passed for submitting resolutions to the 2007 convention and will have to wait until 2008.
